In the post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland of Fallout: New Vegas, Couriers aren't just postmen. New Vegas is an open-world RPG in which the player's actions and choices have an impact on the world and the characters within it. Afterwards the game is completed and the fate of new Vegas is explained in ending cut scene depending on choices. The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find his assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.

NV when it was initially released was stupidly unstable. Constant crashes were very common. IIRC the version on the disc for most consoles is version 1.0. AKA the crashy one. NV still crashes a lot, but far less.

On PC you can get the crashes down to near 0 with mods. Can't do that on console. Consoles are also the reason for so many weird limitations in the game.

EG New Vegas and Freeside being split up into dozens of smaller sections instead of being one large map like it was intended to be. It's actually part of the reason I am more excited for Next Gen consoles.

They might finally reach a level were they match a mid range modern PC. Which means devs don't have to make compromises like that.

I am making this post to hopefully concentrate posts with crash issues related to Fallout New Vegas.While this thread is going to be created primarily in response to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update related crashes, that is not the sole purpose of this thread.

So, I hadn't played this since switching to Windows 10 and when I read about people having problems with it - especially if they had the w10 anniversary patch installed - I thought I'd give it a go.Loaded up fine, selected new game, crash shortly after roulette loading wheel appears on loading screen.Download this d3d9.dll file from the site and copy it into your main FNV folder. Game loads and gets to the 'You're awake!' A few seconds later.My install folder is something like: SteamappscommonFallout New VegasHope this helps. Better than reverting to old gfx drivers!.
